Artemisinin:
an effective treatment for malaria |
Sweet Annie (Artemisia annua L.,
Asteraceae)
also known in the West as sweet wormwood or annual wormwood
and in China as Qinghao noted for its compounds
that can effectively treat malaria is now officially approved
by WHO. To reduce the risk of developing a resistance to artemisinin
by the parasite it should be combined with other anti-malaria
drug.
